Can Someone Explain How Imposing New Taxes On The Health Industry To Pay For Reform Will Lower Costs.?

Taxes increase the cost of doing business. They do not reduce it.
Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, was circulating a proposal that would cost $900 billion over 10 years and guarantee coverage for nearly all Americans, regardless of medical problems. Fees on insurers, drug companies and others in the health care industry would finance tax credits to help expand coverage.http://health.yahoo.com/news/ap/us_healt…

  1. Roadhazz Says:

Those who idea is that the Government wants to drive private insurance companies out of business. By raising taxes on Insurance Companies they know those costs will be passed on to consumers as all corporate taxes are (so much for Obama’s pledge not to raise taxes on that 95%). This will increase the cost of Health Insurance premiums and drive more people straight into the waiting inescapable arms of the Government Option.

  2. dntshoot Says:

They will tax the rich…”reducing cost” for middle and lower class Americans. This is another step toward “redistribution of wealth”. That’s not to mention that this claim of lower costs is a blaitant lie. Section 207…”Taxes on individuals without acceptable coverage.” Section 441…”Surcharge on high income individuals.”

  3. Golfer Says:

You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people part of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time. (MISQ)
People are seeing the light but is it to late?
Just remember what happen to all those other insurance premiums we the people gave to congress–they spent it all–but not on Social Security Insurance people.

  4. Wild Bill Elliot. Peaceable man Says:

The President if you wish to call him that, Will have a health care bill
to sign of some kind. No matter who offers what. Obama would sign
nothing that he could spin and make look like something to appease
not only himself. But the ultra far left. The Baucas bill is Bull ****
and he knows it. The public option is dead and he knows that.
So Obama is willing to sell his *** to the biggest pimps in the
country to look good. And screw the American people.
I can only tell you. If something gets jammed down the throats
of the American People. there will be a major backlash in this
country. And you can count on it.

  5. talon2lo Says:

Any kind of tax will most certainly be passed on to the consumer. Cannot take away from their bottom line. They might make $50B a year in profits, but they will deny your claim in a heartbeat.

  6. Bill in Kansas Says:

No one can explain this as it won’t work
That is the liberal way: never look at the free market to solve a problem when you can have the government create a MUCH BIGGER problem

  7. consrgre Says:

It wont work in reality…it only works in the fantasy land liberals and democrats live in….

  8. Trust Me Says:

It’s called fuzzy math, democrat 101.
