Do You Really Want Private Industry To Run Health Care?

Look what happened to AIG, GM, Chrysler, Citibank. Clearly the private sector can't run business without getting bailed out by government anyway.

When private health insurance companies are making $50+ million a year in each state as annual profit – is that right?
There IS something wrong with that. It’s not socially, or ethically responsible.
    They need to be tempered.

Look at Y! news today. The US government mistakenly sent 3,900 stimulus checks to inmates in prisons. Last week, the VA mistakenly sent 12,000 letters to veterans, telling them they had Lou Gehrig’s disease. And you look to government to solve any problem?
The health care industry and the health insurance industry have been private enterprise since the beginning. What is really ironic is that you cite business failures where the government has interfered in private enterprise for many years.
Absolutely, I want health care providers to be private enterprise.

Yes your apples and oranges comparison is very convincing……………………………
Its as simple as this, does the govt have a strong incentive to cut costs? No, budgets are not nearly as scrutinized.
Do private insurers have a strong incentive to cut costs? Yes, because if it causes them to raise their premiums, they will lose their business to competitors. Thats the way its always worked.
Bergit – The average corporate profit for private insures in 2008 was 2.2% which is less than the average for C corporations in general (3.4%). The “record breaking profit” fallacy has been disproved several times.

86% of Americans like their health care, why mess it up? Oh that’s right, because its the government!
I don’t want the government to run health care and cut Medicaid to partially run it. It means 1 in 5 seniors will go without medicare and the rest will be paid for in our taxes. Which will be raised. Right now the bill also subsidizes abortion. Which means whenever anyone needs one, we pay for it. This nation is a mess right now. Unemployment is at an all time high, the national debt is growing exponentially and we are sending more resources into Afghanistan while still occupying Iraq. One issue at a time!! Let the government get us stable before totally bankrupting us with this ludicrous plan. I mean they cant get anything right, why should we entrust them with our health care? The stimulus clearly didn’t work so why not get back to CAPITALISM and if a business cant make it, then it fails…the same as all the small businesses out there who struggle. The same should go for greedy corporations. Keep the government out!

Yet you want to create yet another gigantic, bloated, inefficient, bureaucratic nightmare of a federal agency to oversee 350,000,000 accounts, funded by the ever-shrinking pool of taxpaying citizens who actually have jobs at private companies and actually pay taxes?
    Good thought.

  6. Smells Like Socialism Says:

What is wrong with you lefties? Why do you have so much faith in government when all they do is run everything they touch into the ground? It’s a disease…..called Government Derangement Syndrome

  7. Suzy Says:

The nice thing about a private contract is that I can always choose to leave.
