when i was taking my baby home from the hospital there was a nurse in there getting me signed out and i put my baby in her car seat and buckled her in and she came over to check the seat belt and said it had to be tighter. when i felt it to me it felt very tight like to where she couldnt breathe, but once the nurse left i loosened it up a bit.

They handle hundreds of babies a day. I rather suspect they have a better idea than you could possibly have yet about handling babies.
You are just a little “sensitive” because you are a new Mom!
    Congratulations!
(You can go by and apologize for telling them to “back off” when your hormones settle down and you come to your senses in a week or two. Take them some flowers…)
BTW, if you aren’t going to tighten the baby-seat properly, why even bother with it? To avoid a ticket? Have you ever seen a baby that was in an accident and wasn’t properly restrained? I’ll bet you a dollar at least some of those nurses have…

  3. ??RN?? Says:

call the hospital, ask for the nursing supervisor; give her the date and time you were discharged and your name and tell her what happened…with that information she should be able to find out which nurse went out with you and let her superior know about the situation….she may already have some complaints, so if she was really rough and such, you should call and report her…..sounds like she needs to be working a different unit…

I am sorry that happened, it should be loose but not to loose. They may have been busy but however thats no excuse for them to do it to tightly. It needs to have enough room to wear you can stick 2 fingers under the strap.

  5. I can eat in public too! Says:

mine tightened mine really tight too. I assume they know best and that babies just don’t like being in car seats. I do have mine a little looser than they did though. a finger or two could fit in between the straps and him.

  6. Tami Says:

no i would call and complain to management. when i had my son i put him in the car seat but the nurse carried him out and she was very nice and gentle w/him.

  7. Kelso's wifey Says:

I think the nurses that work there are stressed and probably didn’t realize they were harming your daughter. Remember, they have an extremly high stressful and exhusting job, on their feet all day. Give ‘em some slack.

  8. Texas Lady Says:

NO…complain to hospital administration. They should know about this and handle the problem. Do it for future parents who will be taking their precious little ones home.

  9. ? Hurley is 10 months old ? Says:

They didn’t even care if I had a car seat or not. I was shocked. They werent even going to follow me out. I had to ask them to do it.

  10. Rachel Says:

No. But if I were you I’d be screaming at them and cussing them out.

It’s supposed to be very tight
