I found out I was pregnant while getting my B.A. Everyone else thought I would just drop out and go on, but I didn’t. As a matter of fact, I did everything I could to stay in school. My daughter was born on August 17 and the semester started on the 26. I was there for the first day.
It took a lot of begging family to babysit because daycares won’t take babies until they are 6 weeks-3 months old, but I did it. Between 2 of my aunts, I was able to cover her care until she could go to a regular day care.
I ended up graduating in 4 years (almost unheard of for people with or without kids) and I had a 3.5 GPA.
Since you enjoy school, I really wouldn’t worry about it. Doors will open for you like they did with me. I knew it was important to have an education and I wanted to get my degree so that I could provide for my daughter.
As for getting hired…it is illegal for people to not hire you simply because you’re pregnant. You are not required to tell them because that is a part of your medical records. Of all people, I would expect those in the medical profession to be understanding of pregnancy.
The best advice I have for you is to buy a bookbag with wheels. You don’t want to be carrying all that weight around at the end of your pregnancy or just after you’ve delivered. Of all the things I did, the wheels helped the most.

A good girlfriend of mine got pregnant during her first year of nursing school. She had trouble towards the end of her pregnancy standing for long periods of time during clinicals, but that was the only issue, really. The timing worked out really well – she ended up going into labor the day after her last final before they broke for summer. She had three months with the baby before she had to go back to school in August! She also really enjoyed having a supportive group of people close to her everyday (her classmates).
Good luck to you! Nurses are the best.

If you are asking if it’s possible to go through nursing school and be pregnant, then yes. My dad’s wife did it. It’s all up to you if you want to go though school pregnant, but if it were me, I would finish school, find a good job, and then try to have a baby. But like I said, it’s up to you! Good luck!

You are 23 so you have plenty of time. Get educated because in the long run your children will benefit…you will be more qualified to get a better job!! Just my two cents.Good luck!

The receptionist where I use to work was pregnant through nursing school and she did just fine. She worked full time and completed school. You can do it! You’re still young and have the energy, take advantage of it!
