If One Wanted To Be An Army Nurse And Already Went To Nursing School, How Do They Enroll?
If one wanted to be an army nurse in Iraq, and already went to nursing school, what would be the process thereafter?
In addition, after they enroll, do they get interviewed? Do they have to "audition" or is it guaranteed that they get it? Where do they live once they join?
If you can give me any more information on the subject, I would be thankful.

Your decision to be an Army Nurse is to be commended! First of all, If you have completed nursing school with your BSN, the Army will be THRILLED to have you. Don’t worry about getting in, you are already guaranteed a spot. What you do is contact an AMEDD recruiting officer. Do not call a regular enlisted recruiter. The reason for this is the regular enlisted recruiter will enter you as an E4- Specialist. If you do this, you will have to go through boot camp and will get paid lower. If you contact a AMEDD recruiter, you have the opportunity to enter the Army as an officer – 2nd Lieutenant. You’ll be paid at a much higher level and you will have special officers training (which is just as long a boot camp if not shorter). You would sign up for active duty if you want to get deployed. If you are reserve, you can live on base or many Army nurses work in civilian hospitals until they are called out.
Hope this helped.

They would drop in to an Army Careers office and they would probably have an interview. No its not guaranteed that you will get in your have to go through basic training just like anyone else. You aren’t special it doesn’t matter if your a Doctor you still have to go through basic training and learn to be a soldier. If you pass out at basic training you may be eligible to go in commissioned if so after your basic training you would go to Sandhurst Defense College and you would learn how to be an officer. You would then come out of there and be put in a unit as a 2nd lieutenant. You never stop learning in the Army so you would still be training after that. Then eventually when its time you and your unit would go on Active Duty. You probably wouldn’t be on the Front Line you would be back in a Military Hospital helping Doctors and Trauma Specialists. You wouldn’t be put on the Front Line if your a women.

From what I’ve gained, you want to join the Army as a nurse. Then you will need to go through the same procedure as other soldiers. Where would you live? It depends on your future duty station. If you get deployed to Iraq, you will live on a local U.S. base. I don’t think anything is guaranteed if you can’t pass the physical tests but otherwise, you have nothing to worry about.
Goozy: why don’t you want to see a recruiter? They are more reliable than anyone. You don’t have to sign up for anything, you can request first-hand info that you can rely on. If I were you, I would not rely on this site because although most of us are related to the Army in one way or another, we are not Army nurses. That’s why we don’t know the exact procedure while recruiters can give you info immediately.

You’d probably have to go thru boot camp just like everyone else does when going into the military. Go down and talk to your local recruiter for more info. since they would be the ones who would have the answers for you. I am sure you have to join the Army to be an Army nurse. Since you already have an education and degree in nursing, then that’s what they would probably have you do in the Army.

Speak to an Army recruiter. They have recruiters that do nothing but that in larger cities. If you are in a smaller city, I am sure the local Army recruiter can find someone that can assist you

Although you want to be an army nurse in Iraq, once you sign up they will send you where they want you, not where you want to go. (My Brother joined the Air Force as a nurse, they send him where they need him and it don’t matter where he wants to go).
