I am an LPN in the north east and see no job postings for LPN or RN's, yet the nursing schools-have a waiting lists. Here is my question should I go back to school? I am almost 40 and am not sure if it is worth it---would you?

Right now the economy is unstable so health care facilities have implemented freezes and in some places layoffs. But this is temporary. There is still a shortage of nurses and it is only going to increase in the next decade. Despite full nursing programs and wait lists, there are still more older nurses in the profession who are nearing retirement than there are new grads coming into the profession. Our overall population is aging. . . baby boomers. . . and with that comes increased burden on the health systems. Not to mention that obesity and it’s complications like diabetes and heart disease are on the rise. So oh yes, RNs will not be without jobs for long.
