There are several hospitals in the SoCal area that offer the modern-day version of “candy striping” to teens who wish to volunteer and learn more about the health care industry. My mom used to work at UCLA, and I met some of the bright and ambitious teens who volunteered there with the Mattel Children’s Hospital.
