What Are My Chances Of Getting Into Nursing School?

I am considering applying to nursing school because I really think I would enjoy it. But I dropped 2 classes first term freshman year to protect my gpa and now I am wondering if they would even accept me.. I have a 3.77 gpa and clinical experience. Our nursing program is pretty competitive so let me know if you think I should pursue nursing.......I just have no idea what I would do if they rejected me....It would be like starting over again

    Hello there,
You didn’t say which college you’re attending. Every college has their own rules and guidelines. Some let everyone into their program, while others require high GPA’s, excellent SAT scores, and other mandates. For example, I was a nursing major at Liberty University and students get accepted into the nursing program if and only if they have at least a 3.5 GPA, an A or B in Human A&P, and you pretty much have to take 17 or 18 credit hours per semester to graduate in 4 years. On top of that, they only let a certain number of students into the program per year. I have friends at other schools who had B’s and C’s and were accepted into nursing school.
You have a high GPA, but there may be other stipulations to consider. If for some reason you’re not accepted, it’s not the end of the world. You could apply again in another semester or you could transfer to a different school. Not everyone (far from all) graduates in 4 years. Don’t put so much on your plate that you become overwhelmed and lose your passion. The best you can do is to talk to your academic advisor and have him/her look into it for you. Good luck!

I’d say chances are excellent. They probably won’t even look at dropped classes.
Remember, if you don’t get accepted at this particular nursing program, there are others…many others…out there.
Don’t ever give up any dream in life because of one rejection.

I know most universities have a 90% rejection rate. Since you have a awesome GPA I think your chances are atleast 50% and you need to apply to more than one university so if they decline you you have more options.

I say go for it. If they reject you, there’s plenty of other nursing schools that will accept you. Good luck.
