What Are The Requirements For Medicare Buying Durable Medical Equipment?
my moms doc wants her to get a bed and a lift chair, but we were told by a friend that there is a waiting period of like 2 years in between when they will buy them is that true? anyone know any links to info?
She has sever deteration of the disks in her back as well as a fatal heart condition and lung problems as well and we live in NY. Thanks for any help.

medicare requirement vary by state. go to http://www.medicare.gov and start from there and call 1 800 fed info to see if they have the local medicare office who can tell what is covered in ny.

they do cover somethings but like i said varies. they paid fro my now deceases mom’s oxy therapy adaptive equipement cane walker etc.

There is a 2 year waiting period to get on SSDI with medicare after you stop working. Is your mom on SSDI with medicare now?
If she is at the point where she is considered needing hospice care – she should be able to get everything she needs immediately.
