The Health care Insurance Companies basically say’s ” This is what we will do and what we won’t do!” They do this as a polite way in saying ” Mr. President stay out of our Buiessness or we will make this very exspeincive for your Party (DEMS) and give 100% of our dollars too The Needy Republican’s!”
Al Copone style is too take them out into the “Watershed” make them an offer they can not refuse!

My guess is that they are trying to save themselves as best they can, and that the patients are going to get the shaft.
PS I expect employers to flock to any public” fine” payable to the US government in lieu of providing health care coverage also.
For someone who doesn’t seem to be a fan of capitalism, Obama has been pretty shrewd at getting certain businesses to align their interests with his desired policies. It may be as simple as bullying these businesses, as with the Chrysler bailout. but it’s working, and will continue to do so unless and until someone is willing to take Obama on.

Although the offer from the industry groups doesn’t resolve thorny details of a new health care system, it does offer the prospect of freeing a large chunk of money to help pay for coverage. And it puts the private-sector groups in a good position to influence the bill Congress is writing.
Six major groups plan to deliver a letter to Obama and pledge to cut the growth rate for health care by 1.5 percentage points each year, senior administration officials said Sunday. They spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to sketch the offer before full details are revealed at a White House event scheduled for Monday.
Obama has offered an outline for overhauling the health care system, and he wants Congress to work out the details and pass legislation this year. His plan would build on the current system in which employers, government and individuals share responsibility for paying the cost and care is delivered privately. The government would play a stronger role by subsidizing coverage for many more people and spelling out stronger consumer protections.”

However my opinion is this is way too little way too late; Mr Obama still like most in DC is in bed, in cahoots, with the for profit industry, until and unless we embrace Universal health care in its most pure-est form nothing will change. Voluntary measures are more than laughable they are a farce.
