What Happens If I Never Get Into Nursing School?

So I take all my pre requisites for nursing school in my area. and then apply and apply every time there is an opening. and after say 5 or 6 years never getting accepted, what the hell am I supposed to do?
The reason I'm asking if because I'm doing pre requisites right now and thought about well what if I never get in? Am I supposed to flip burgers the rest of my life? Did I waste my time and hard work? Anyone thought about this?

HA! Keep thinking that way and you surely will be flipping burgers.
Listen, I’m almost done with my prerequisites and I just applied to 1 out of a whole lot of nursing schools. you need to be flexible with yourself and if you want to be a nurse, you need to learn how to make sacrifices in your life. this journey isn’t going to be easy unless you play by the rules and give leeway to whatever situation happens to you.
After I graduated from high school in 2008, I began my nursing prerequisites and now after a year has passed, I’m about to finish. It takes great sacrifice, self-determination, and devotion to get through these tough obstacles but after you’ve jumped all the hurdles and won the race, you can really see all the hard work that you put in because all that sacrifice that you made shows on your grades and reflects on what kind of person you really are. If you are really meant to go into nursing and become a nurse, that gets determined throughout the course of your journey. If not, then you better change your major to something more ‘fitting’ than becoming a nurse because being a nurse will require much out of you and will test you on how much you can serve not just yourself but your neighbors and boy, it ain’t easy! Grades, and really good grades matter. a GPA of about 3.7 or 3.8 in my area gives you a better advantage but even those with 4.0s still get rejected. Right now my only B+ in statistics is killing me. but there are other factors in getting determined too that i have an advantage since I’m male and of a different backgroud with health and community experience as well as foreign language. look for all your options and give all you’ve got, i mean, go for the extremes just to get those As. that requires you giving up so much of your time, besides nursing is a field that really takes up most of your time just for studying, making care plans, drug calculations, self-reflections, and patient care. This isn’t like other college majors that allots more free time because you are dealing with someone’s life and that life has connections with the others you are involved with though nursing does still give you free time for yourself, just not enough as the other majors.
there are still many more ways to try to get in the nursing field. theres LVN courses that you can try and then slowly procede up the ladder. you just need to take a look at your options, there’s plenty out there. and apply to more than just 1 school.

Just work really hard and maintain a high GPA. I am sure you can get in somewhere. You are probably taking general courses, no? Psychology, anatomy, physiology, etc.? If you absolutely cannot get into a nursing program, most of those general ed requirements can be transferred into a program and count towards another degree – for instace: health science, psychology, nutrition, and so fourth.
But, keep a positive frame of mind. And look around. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Oh lord, you sound like me several years ago. I applied for 3 years before I finally got in. And boy did I cry happy tears when I finally did! You will get in, if not the 1st year then after that. Don’t lose faith. Get good grades in your prerequisites, apply to many schools and get a medical field related job while you wait to get in. Like CNA, EMT etc. There are a shortage of nurses who are willing to take a pay cut to teach, so in Ca where I’m from many people are on waiting lists. But keep the faith, do well in your classes and look into the higher cost schools. You will pay more but alot of times there are no waiting lists. Good luck future nurse!

what school are you planning to go to?? r u talking about getting into the nursing program??
but dont worry about it.. i havent gone to school for close to 2 years after high school. I’ll be going this coming school year to a community college though and im planning to take my prerequisites and become a LVN. And i worry about the same thing but just try anyway. whatever happens happens.. atleast u tried. if anything try getting your CNA license first. thats what im planning to do while im working to become an LVN. plus its a good way to get used to everything before u move up plus u have something to fall back on.

if you dont get in then it definately is the end of your life and you will not even be able to get a job at mcdonalds so give up, only kidding. just go for a new career if you dont get it!

Have more confidence in yourself that you will get in.
If you don’t get in you could always go for your back up career.
