Well, I know it’s similar to a receptionist, but I use to work as a data entry clerk for a doctor’s office. I really enjoyed it and learned so much. It might be a good start, even if not an ideal one.

Join the US Army Reserve as a Lab Technician or a Hospital Medic.
If you do it smartly you will have a large financial bonus, college paid for, but most importantly it will expose you to many experiences you wouldn’t otherwise have.

You could get a unit secretary job, patient care tech, phlebotomist, lab tech, pharmacy tech, ER tech or patient registration job at any hospital. Being you’re anticipating on becoming a nurse, it plays in your favor. Just check the websites of your local hospitals for jobs.

You can do aide work in a nursing home or a hospital. This will prepare you for some of the things that you will see and do as a nursing student.
You will have experience with giving a bed bath and wiping dirty butts.
That is what I did while I was in school and I learned a lot about what kind of nurse I wanted to be.

You could become a CNA. That is the best experience you can get before becoming a Nurse. You could possibly work at a place that offers tuition reimbursement, so some of your college could be paid for. The Army Reserve idea is good too.
