Any truth to this quote from Dr. House?
Discount Medical Scrubs
"Gorgeous women do not go to medical school. Unless they’re as damaged as they are beautiful." - Dr. House from House M.D (television show)
This not just about women either. The issue comes up in Scrubs too where J.D, Carla, and Elliot have had family problems in their past.
So is there any reason why the shows explore these issues? or is just coincidence?
I mean is there a larger portion of doctors who have had life damaging issues in their past compared to other professions?

I think it’s TV characters in general, not just medical ones. It seems to be a common theme that TV characters will have baggage and childhood issues.
