Discount Medical Scrubs
I love learning about medicine and I want to get my BSN, but I don't want to wear scrubs. Are there any jobs in the medical field that let you dress professionally?

Why don’t you want to wear scrubs? They are by far the most comfortable uniform on the face of the planet!! If you want a BSN and want to become a nurse, I’m not really sure why you would want to wear nice clothes when potentially dealing with body fluids and such….
But, if you’re dead set against them, you could become a medical secretary instead. Or you could go into the field of nursing research. Most days you would dress professionally, with the exception of the days you are gathering data from patients. If you go all the way and get an MSN and become a nurse practitioner you can dress professionally with a lab coat over your clothes.

Typically, medical technologists and other laboratory personnel can choose between scrubs or professional dress. Most of the jobs that involve direct patient contact require scrubs.

There are nursing jobs apart from bedside patient care where you could dress professionally, such as in public health, case management, administrative or supervisory positions, etc. But most of the time you need at least a little bit of staff nursing experience. Hopefully you won’t base your career decisions on whether or not you have to wear scrubs. . . .
