Is it bad that my inspiration to be in the medical field is because of watching Scrubs?
Discount Medical Scrubs
I know that it's 'nothing' like the TV show, but like, I dunno, it made me really want to be a doctor. Is that bad?

Nah… after watching Jurassic Park I wanted to be a paleantologist…lol. And sometimes I wonder if I should’ve gone in that field…
It’s cool that you get inspired by a TV show, but keep in mind it isn’t real (though it sounds like you already know that!). I know some people that are totally blinded by ficticious ideals/values…and think real life is EXACTLY WHAT YOU SEE ON TVVVVV!!! And that could most definitely become a horrible downfall later in your life…!
But if you are interested, I would go search more into the medical field…or if you know someone, ask them! I’m in post secondary right now and I’m taking a Biological Sciences program. It’s kinda neat since you have a wide variety of options/fields you can go into – optometry, zoology, ecology, denistry, and even medical school
So perhaps later, you don’t want to enter the medical field…if you entered a program like that you’d still have a variety of options. That is, if you’re interested in science/etc.
Hope this helps…!

Many people are inspired to go into the medical field after an experience with a loved one, or a personal experience as a patient. Beyond personal experiences, the next best thing often comes through the media, so there is nothing unusual about becoming inspired by a TV show like Scrubs. You are intelligent enough to realize that it is not the real deal, so now you can watch for more reality based shows to view, and find ways to experience what the field of medicine is all about. Inspiration comes in many packages.

No, it isn’t bad; it’s just seriously warped.

who cares why you become a doctor, as long as you become an EXCELLENT doctor. there are enough people who were able to make it through medical school, and have now lost all the passion required to do all the things that being a good doctor requires
