I work in the medical profession and trust me, ANYTHING could happen. With the staff, with the patients… hell – with the lady that works in the gift shop or the guy that repairs the EKG machines! (Nevermind the insane things the adminstration dept. does for funding… don’t ask.)

It’s just a never-ending mixed bag of craziness working in a hospital. Working in the emergency room alone could send any regular/normal/sane/fill in the blank lay person over the edge. (I personally stay away from that department. You should do the same.)

I just think writers have alot to draw from when writing a medical drama script. That’s a fact.

I think because they deal with things that happen every day but at the same time the things that we dread and fear the most.

Yes but as you can see as the TV era changes all kinds of shows about life…like reality shows, what happens when you go to jail, cops, and even bounty hounters or repo people… For some reason people are watching these types of shows.

  5. Gabbyd Says:

Maybe, it’s because all of the people want to watch some hospital movies. and people are dying more these days.

  6. Natasha Says:

Kimshot, watch a couple episodes of Scrubs and you won’t be wondering any longer. That show is BRILLIANT.

Medical shows have always been popular. They’re about life and death and suffering and drama… All the things that make a show interesting.

M*A*S*H was one of the biggest shows ever.

    And way back when…
    Dr. Kildare
    Ben Casey

This sire has a list of medical dramas from the US and UK.

  8. Eve Says:

They’re popular because there are patients involved and people can relate to them.
But they’re mostly popular because of the characters. Like Grey’s for example. Grey’s has a big cast and people can relate to at least one character. The relationships among them are also very interesting of course…

    Aahh… I love Grey’s ! :-)
