Is nursing school in a good university very hard to get into? What about experience?
Discount Medical Scrubs
Because of the nursing shortage in the US, is nursing school any easier to get into than a school of engineering or arts/sciences? Does it affect it or not? If a person has voluteer experience in 3 hospitals in 2 countries- one hospital for the Ministry of Interior Security Forces, and the other newly constructed and inaugurated by a crowned prince-would that be seen as 'special' in the eyes of the admissions? Even if the applicants gpa is only around a 3.0?

With the nursing shortage here, it will not matter which college you attend, just as long as you have the nursing degree and the credentials to be a nurse here. In some states you can become a licensed nurse by having just a 2 year degree in nursing and you can be an LPN with just a diploma. In addition to the degrees most states require that you sit for your nursing board exams, which vary by state. I would figure out which state I would want to work in and check out their nursing requirements to see what type of education I would need to become a nurse.

No, not at all. However, I’ve heard about some universities having a waiting list. Depending on where you live the education requirements and licensing laws are different. For example, in AZ an RN is a two year degree program. A BSN you can do online if you already have your RN. What the country needs right now are RN’s and BSN’s. Good luck!
