Is there medical help for my husband?

Discount Medical Scrubs

Every day when my husband comes home from work.. even if I've cleaned the house from top to bottom he freaks out and tells me the house is filthy. He vacuums 3 times a day, and constantly complains about how my hair sheds onto the carpet. I have to brush and style my hair outside now because of this.. He yells if I tell him I didn't dust, although he does it twice a day.. I figure I don't need to, but he always says he see's dust.. Plus every night he's on his hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor with paper towels, because he says our socks make the floor dirty.. No one is allowed to wear shoes in the house he yelled at his own mother once.. I tell him everyday he has OCD or something and needs to get help.. Is there help for him?.. or am I the crazy person?

Their is something wrong with him and he does need help. Your first concern however should be for yourself. You can try to get him to see a doctor but if he will not do it you should not stay. These symptoms are more severe than just ocd. The fact that he yells and takes out agression on you for not following unreasonable mandates could just be the beginning. Left untreated your husbands symptoms may progress to something much more dangerous. I am sure you love your husband but you need to protect yourself first. It sounds like he is a very unbalanced man and he could hurt you badly without even meaning to. Many mental illness’ are progressive and just get worse with time. The symptoms you have described are not normal and do need to be addressed.

He needs the help. He does have an OCD. These can be controlled with medication.

Sorry to hear you have to live this way. Yes there is help for your husband. Take him by the hand to a clinic for his compulsions that are way out of line. Tell him you won’t stay married to him unless he gets this behaviour taken care of. No one should have to live this way, walking on egg shells every time their husband comes home. Stand firm and stick to your "Guns". Cocoa

OCD would be my diagnosis. Your husband is mentally unbalanced, and he needs to get a good medical checkup, and also put on some medication.

I am not a doctor, but I have OCD, it sounds like you husband probably does too. Try to convince him to get help! But if he doesn’t want to actually help himself then no therapy or doctor will be able to really help him no matter what they do for him. You have to be willing to get better.
