Medical Dramas… Are they really reliable? How accurate are they?
Discount Medical Scrubs
I have a thesis to make about medical dramas (House, E.R., Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy etc.) and if we should really believe the things we see in them..
I was wondering if anyone new a reliable book or internet source that discusses the said issue because my professor requires at least 7 published sources and only 3 internet sources. The libraries I've been to aren't as reliable so i was hoping if someone could help...
Thanks!

I heard and saw on global that the show House(and I think Grey’s Anatomy) have hired doctors so that all of the information and everything is correct(and so they don’t give the viewers ideas…) So maybe you should try looking it up on the Global site? Or maybe a site just about the shows (sometimes those fan sites come in handy, the ones that the viewers go on and discuss stuff, like a forum) . I hope I helped, I suck at finding good information.

They aren’t meant to be reliable – they are meant to be entertainment.
I’ve had a lot of MRI’s and I just love it in "House" where the doctors rush a patient into a spacious, well lit room with an oversized MRI machine. No queues, no reception, no people sitting outside in gowns. Then no questions about contrast allergies, or metal use or implants. No straps, padding or head mask – it doesn’t matter if this patient moves! No clanking , no earplugs!
I’m safer getting my info from real doctors and techs, thank you.

I think you will have trouble finding published sources on this topic, so I can’t help you there.
I can tell you however, that while some of the shows have researched the medical topics, there’s still a lot of errors and they definitely do not portray life in a hospital at all realistically, especially House and Grey’s Anatomy – not a nurse in sight for starters.
