Medical emergency? I need your help!?

Discount Medical Scrubs

I was just playing with a red glow stick (the kind that you crack to make light up) and I was cracking it after it had stopped glowing and it burst and got all over my face and in my eyes. I rushed into the bathroom and thoroughly rinsed and flushed my eyes with water and saline solution and then I got in the shower and scrubbed myself down. It really burned badly in my eyes at first and they got really red. Since I got out of the shower, my eyes feels better but they're still red. We called my doctor who told us to call poison control and they said that we didn't need to go to the emergency room since we washed it out so well but I'm still really nervous that I've seriously damaged my eyes, especially my left one.

(I know, I'm an idiot, I was just cracking it to see if I could get it to glow again and it burst and squirted all over me, so save your comments about how I'm retarded, thanks..)

Another weird thing is that even though I just took a shower I feel like I can smell the chemical really strongly still? Like it's permeating everything? I changed my clothes and scrubbed my skin really well but I still feel like I reek of it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I guess it's not an emergency but I'm really freaked out so somebody make me feel better please?
How toxic is the stuff in glow sticks? Do I need to throw out everything that has the chemical on it? It squirted on some stuff on the floor and the shirt I was wearing.

Well, everything I have read over the net since you posted your question is saying it will be fine, however some people were concerned with the fact that glow sticks are made in China so there is no telling what is actually in them. I think you will be fine. The ingredients can be found here

Which you will see why you are getting that chemical smell.
    Another website is here…

I haven’t found anything long term or life threatning about it yet. If I do, I will add on more.

That happened to my friend, and her eye went back to normal by the next day.
    I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine. :]

you will be ok if poison control says so….you can also pour cold milk onto your eyes to sooth the burn/red feelings. ….accidents happen…better a glow stick than a thermometer full of mercury
