Scrubs (show) Question about the medical rankings.?

Ok well first of all i know that that in the first season they where all interns. But in one of the episodes in the second season JD is a wearing a white coat (which i think means attending) but he stops wearing it after that, was it his coat or was he just borrowing it to feel powerful like the janitor. Then a i think the 5th or 6th season elliot gets a white coat did she beat JD or have they both always have them. And is Elliot at the same level as cox before he becomes chief? Sorry im bad at this so is it just light blue scrubs is interns dark is resident and white is attending and up. but sometime i think i see a resident with a white coat Dont ask me why this matters to me it just does.
Anyways my thoughts on the ending is that JD and Elliot WONT end up together, turk might die of diabetes or he will have another kid and cox at one point will look up to JD and JD will finally look up to his brother who will buy the mercedies that he borrowed in season 2. I know its a little dark but its bill lawrences stile. anyways thanks

in the second season JD becomes a resident and therefore is able to wear a white lab coat.it was his, it had his name on it. funnily enough, dr. cox does not wear a coat in that episode. that’s the only episode JD wears a white coat (the janitor wears one, too, just to mess w/ him)
elliot started wearing her coat either in the end of the 4th season or the the start of the 5th when she was doing her fellowship (which lasted 5 days) at another hospital. she never stopped wearing it. and yes, she (along w/ JD) was an attending just like dr. cox before he became chief of medicine.
the only time the scrubs color is significant is for the surgeons who wear green scrubs. anyone else can wear any other color. there was an episode, however, when dr. kelso gets fed up w/ people stealing scrubs, he orders everyone, including the surgeons, to wear gross brown scrubs. hope that helped.
