What careers do you think tv glamorizes?
Discount Medical Scrubs
I notice tv shows that happen to glamorize cops, detectives and of course any forensics field (Bones NSCI, and in a way Dexter to name a few). Now let us move on to the medical field where there are nurses and doctors. (Er, Mercy, Scrubs, Nurse Jackie etc), I plan on being a nurse and find forensics cool but these jobs require hard work and there are people who would find them depressing or challenging. What other careers does tv idolize?

Amanda,
I have been in law enforcement for over 20 years and forensics since 1993. Things are getting more and more technical. I can tell you from being involved in forensics: it is nothing like on television (csi, ncis, etc)! It is not glamorous and is a lot of hard and grueling work.
My advice: Get a degree in something besides criminal justice, make a good salary, and live well. Law enforcement is not what it is cracked up to be. You must tolerate slander, bad attitudes, and low pay. Television does not show the trials and tribulation that officers go through. It is one of the most unappreciated professions. Good luck in your future!
