What does it take to be a scrub nurse?

I am currently studying biology as my major at UC Davis and I just found the medical profession I want, a scrub nurse. I want to know where to go from here and how I should take the next steps.

    Earn a BSN/RN. Specialize in surgery support. Then, it takes some years until you become the chief operating room [OR] nurse. The old-fashioned expression is "scrub nurse."

    An anecdote – my father, a surgeon, maintained that the single most important person in the OR was the scrub nurse.
