Anyone else find it appalling that Tebow has been cleared to play?
Discount Medical Scrubs
If they were playing a scrub team, you know he would be sitting out. But no, the big men upstairs who will never have to take a hit clear him. I am also amazed that the so called experts from Pittsburgh cleared him. I know they evaluated him. The guy took a serious blow two weeks ago. Determining his ability to play should have been a week to week decision, not hour by hour. Unreal given what I know about concussions and what has come out recently.
I don't see why they didn't just prepare the backup and go with him, win or lose. Doing this is completely unacceptable and dangerous. Screw the Univiversity of Florida coach and the medical staff.
Comments?
TO THE IDIOTS who called me an armchair QB and he was not yet cleared. BOTH wrong. I did play in high school, played college lacrosse, etc. I assume you never got to that level.
ANOTHER THING. I WROTE THE question after he was cleared. Learn to use the Internet to find info. It was a sure thing he was cleared when I wrote the question. I won't get into my education level, but let's just say you are owned on any brain topics. Bu bye.

He may as well play. He’ll never have a pro career.

I hope that CBS cover that where Rich gannon retire because of a head shot this is not good for the gators!

Yes. Urban Meyer is a total asshole. If Tebow gets hurt, they should run Meyer right out of college football.

It’s hard to say, as none of us really know Tebow’s true condition. Since he hasn’t been named the starter for tonight yet, it could simply be a ploy to throw off the Tigers.

it is really stupid that tim tebow was cleared to play. i am a true gators fan who goes to every home game but i still dont think tebow should play just to be careful so he wont get hurt any worse. plus there back up QB isnt bad at all he can throw and scramble but of course not better than tebow.

Ok Tebow or not the Gators are going to get thier @$$ kicked.

I’m a Gator fan and I do not agree with it at all. He suffered a serious concussion and it is almost impossible to be able to play a football game two weeks later. They are not thinking about the well being of him they are thinking about 5-0. Plus I feel pretty confident in John Brantley’s chances. It’s just a bad bad decision by the whole staff

It is the stupidest decision ever.

It’s easy for the arm chair quarterbacks on the other side of the television screen to judge medical personel and advisory staff, but I feel like Florida realizes that one of their star player’s health is more important than a stupid game.
Why am I calling Florida (1) vs. LSU (4) a stupid game? Because both sides realize the game doesn’t matter at all for their post season hopes. If Tebow sits, and Florida loses do they lose their National Title hopes? No. Florida and LSU are in different divisions of the SEC and while this is an important game to handicap the two teams, Florida can lose this game and still make the SEC title game. If Florida wins the SEC title game they will have their spot in a BCS bowl and by that time, Tebow won’t have anyone questioning whether he should play or not.
I admire your concern for Tebow’s health, but I feel like your attacks on UF are misguided.
Furthermore I hadn’t heard that Tebow was cleared to play. I thought it was labeled as a "game time decision."

Let me guess… You never played anything other than YMCA sports.. The fact is, Tebow HAS NOT been cleared to play YET! There is a good chance that he will be though. That being said, Tebow is a competitor in every since of the word. The hit he received was 2 weeks ago, therefore, he should be ready to play. Week to week decision my butt! Those of us that have actually coached at a level other then the YMCA have done the very thing that Meyer is doing. Why? Because, believe or not, things change.
As far as Rich Gannon goes, how many other players have had concussions? Rich was in the later stages of his career, so trying to compare his injury to Tebow’s is stupid!

He was cleared to practice not cleared to play. Meyer said he will play IF he is cleared to. They will check him before the game and decide if he is ok to play then.

Gator fan here. I am more concerned for his health than a Gator win. I think he should sit this game out personally. Better safe than sorry. This is a young man with many years ahead of him why take ANY risk of this magnitude.

who knows it if’s stupid or not. most of us here are not doctors, and those that are have not had the liberty of examining tebow for themselves. that being the case…who are we to second guess the decisions of their medical personnel. although meyer certainly wants to win…i don’t think that he’s some monster that’s looking to jeaopardize tebow’s football future or ultimately his health.
