Dirt or Ring around the Neck area… Real No Joke?
Discount Medical Scrubs
I was looking this problem up for my child and finding it hard to believe that there is no serious remedy for this. Does anyone have a real idea.. No it's not that they don't wash their neck because as a concerned parent I even took steps to scrub their neck myself. I did notice other answers mentioned Overweight and diabetics as more often than not who has this type of problem my daughter is thin but does have hypoglycemia. We don't have Medical Insurance so we can't seek a Dr. or Dermatologist help. Someone out there has to know how to solve this problem. (We can get most off w/alcohol but within a week it's back like we never tried and it seems to be loosing it's working ability it's makes her neck raw) it started abt 2yr ago... I'm hoping there's a less sensitive way to get it off and keep it off longer than a week... Anyone know... Someone mentioned Sugar w/liquid Soap we may try that but if you have any Solutions or Non-criticizing comments please let us know... (Not just for my family but for other families who suffer this same problem) Thanks
I may have found out something... I was researching on the Web and this is what I have found: Acanthosis nigricans is a skin condition characterized by dark, thick, velvety skin in body folds and creases. Most often, acanthosis nigricans affects your armpits, groin and neck.
Source: MayoClinic.com
Acanthosis nigricans, you may naturally be concerned about the appearance of your skin. Some steps may help lighten the affected areas of your skin. There's no specific treatment for acanthosis nigricans — but treating any underlying conditions, such as diabetes and obesity, may cause the changes in your skin changes to fade.
Thanks Haley, your comment help me find my answer... Wow, it's not JUST dirt it's actually a real health problem... That can be caused by weight and or health Well now we know that this does have to do with my daughters pre-existing health condition. What's sad is people just think she doesn't wash her neck... But now we know and As soon as we can we will get a Dr. to confirm it. Thanks again!!

is you child over weight. this is very common in over weight people especially if the are a child. this is cause by too much insulin produced in the body so i suggest u should cut down on the sugar you are feeding your child and help him/her lose the weight over time the darkness will fade if he is eating healthy but if he/she continues eating high sugar foods, the condition might worsen.
Edit: oh any please don’t try scrubbing it out or whitening creams, the problem is cause by internal factors not external factors.

well i have a dark ring around my neck but its mostly caused by the silver necklace i always wear so maybe if your child wears and jewlery you might want to take it off and still use the alcohol remedy
