I stuck my finger with a rusty metal brush and am 8 mos. pregnant. should i go to the dr.?
Discount Medical Scrubs
The brush was for cleaning the BBQ grill, i picked it up and it jabbed me in the thumb causing immediate bruising and just a pinch of blood. I scrubbed it with soap and water and soaked it in peroxide. I have had a tetanus shot with in the last 10 years, should I still seek medical attention?

If you’re pregnant then your first concern should be everything that’s best for you so it’s best for the baby. You cleaned it well and you’ve had a tetanus shot in the last ten years… so that’s both very good. However, when you hurt yourself when you’re pregnant… (unless you live so far away from a doctor or don’t have access to the telephone…) SEEK A PROFESSIONAL’S ADVICE and don’t waste time posting questions of this naturre or asking people on the Internet!!!

just keep it clean – tetnus is more from bacteria than rust

tetanus will last for ten years, so unless the finger becomes inflamed or infected you should be fine.

Call the ER room and ask a nurse or call your Obgyn. I’m not sure if it can cause problems but it is better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck!

if you had a clean injury, like cutting your finger with a clean blade, there was no reason to seek medical intervention. But you ‘ve had an injury with an object that is probably contaminated. After injuries due to contaminated objects(specially soil, dust…) you have to recieve a dose of Td(tetanus vaccine) if more than five years have passed your last tetanus vaccination.

no you should be fine but if your worried then go see your Dr but as long as you had a tetanus shot you should be good. Good luck and keep it cleaned.

Get another tetanus shot just to be safe, it can wear off by ten years.

Tetanus spores are found in soil contaminated with animal faeces rather than in rust. A tetanus shot covers you for ten years, in case of minor less contaminated injury. You are safe.
