I want to start my own nursing/medical scrub line. How do I go about it?
Discount Medical Scrubs
I've been a nurse for over five years and would like to start my own medical uniform line. I sew pretty well. I have lots of ideas regarding designs that are fashion forward yet functional. I can't really follow a pattern because I am trying to do something completely different than what is currently out there. I've been reading the entrepreneurs guide to sewn product manufacturing as well as visiting forums but I can't seem to find anything uniform related. I am also having difficulty obtaining fabrics and Joann's isn't cutting it. What do I need to do to start my own line? I want to know how I can get my patterns sized and how I can go about finding someone to manufacture them. Thanks so much for your time ![]()

If you’re on the Fashion-Incubator private forum (not just the publicly accessible one), ask there about sourcing. No, you don’t want to buy from Joann or similar; you’ll want to order fabrics at wholesale.

There’s really not a whole lot different between uniforms and fashion, except the design cycle tends to be a bit slower for uniforms, and the expectation is that they’ll be better made.
