I'm hoping that your answer is going to be…. "don't worry about it you hypochondriac"!?

O.K. first medical question I've ever asked (and I was a hospital corpsman 20 years ago). I just took a bath, and was trying to scrub off a dark blue ink stain on the inside of my upper arm when I realized it was a vein that was just dark. Oddly enough, I never noticed it before. Then I started looking around and both inside upper arms, the top of both feet and hands looks like a Rand McNaly city map. All the veins are a darker blue. I'm only taking one med, suppositories (what can I say, I'm a truck driver, it happens) now what i am wondering is..... is this something to worry about? Could it just be a combination of ultra hot bath and meds, or could it be something more dangerous. I'm hoping for the Non dangerous answer....PLEASE! If you absolutely know what it is or it has happened to you then please let me know! I kind of would like to sleep well tonight. I Don't Feel Sick! I feel great with the small exception of the problem south of the border. lol

    Maybe you’re dehydrated.

    When I’m dehydrated…
    And/or it is hot…
    And/or I drink alcohol…
    I get body builder vascular.
    Pretty neat!

I have very, low body fat and I believe with your active lifestyle you would as well.

Stay cool, fuel up with Gatorade…I’m sure it is nothing…

Probably just the heat, or you have varicose veins, which, while kind of scary, are pretty harmless. Rest easy, friend.

If you have low body fat, and also work out a lot veins come to the surface to help you cool off. We don’t have elephant size ears, so the veins get close to the surface whereever they can. My forearms are like that.

you didn’t say your age or your weight. If you are thin in stature then your blue veins will show more, and same goes for ligher in weight. I don’t think hot showers does anything but make you feel good (cleanliness, motivation, warm touch makes the body feel good). I don’t know about meds. Blue veins are those veins coming from the heart so it could mean the medication is in the blood and darker because it’s being filtered. I never heard anyone mentioning or asking questions about suppositories but maybe there could be a different answer for that. If you ever feel you are unsure of what’s happening with your body then get a blood test and other tests your doctor offers.
