Is it silly to want to become a doctor after watching hospital sitcoms?
Discount Medical Scrubs
I'm still young and a freshman in high school; still deciding on my career choices. However, I think I'm too picky when it comes to deciding what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life. I conclude this because I dismiss the idea entirely of becoming a doctor just because I like the show "Scrubs". I know hospital life isn't the same on TV as it is in real life, but I'm just intrigued by the whole medical atmosphere of it all. The serious moments on the show when they're actually doing medical procedures fascinate me, but I ignore the career choice merely because I'm scared of doing something just because I liked it on TV. Is this a serious inspiration for a career in medicine? Or any career at all?

Not silly at all. People have to be exposed to professions in some way before being able to consider them. Something you saw there strikes your interest. That doesn’t happen to all the people that watch medical sitcoms. You should explore the field to learn more about what you find interesting, what kind of schooling do you need to be able to do that, who would pay you to do that, how much would they pay you, and what does the job outlook for the future look like. Do you know anyone that works in health care? How about relatives or neighbors? If still no, ask these people if they know of someone. When you get to the friends of friends stage, you can usually find someone.
Good luck.
