What could be this skin disorder, that causes black dirt apperance?

Ok so I have this skin condition for a while, and I actually got a skin biopsy years ago, and was diagnosed with a condition....but now I cannot remember the name. My doctor says that he has to look at old charts, because he cannot quite remember either....All I remember was that the term "Non-Malignant" was what it started with...then a very long medical word after it. It seems to be getting worse...and I don't remember why, but at the time my doctor was going to look into a way to treat it, but I think both he and I got concentrated on my more serious health issues, and kind of forgot about it. Like I said..it seems to be getting worse and it is really bothering me. Basically it affects my hands, and to a much lesser extent, my ankles. It looks almost exactly like I have been working on a greasy car engine all day. I CAN scrub it off, but it can take quite a long time, and can even leave my hands pretty raw feeling. Other facts I remember when first diagnosed is that it was non-harmful..It is definitely something produced by my body...and NOT a fungus, or something like that. ..And I THINK I remember him suggesting that it was caused by either a build up of dead skin cells, or perhaps my skin cells growing too fast....something like that? That last bit I wont swear to as being accurate, cause it has been a while....well I would very much like to know what it is, or what it might be, and also I would like to know if there is anyway to treat it other than scrubbing my hands till they are raw, for about an hour every day. Other things....there was a red/warty crusty thing on my hand, that eventually went away, but which I had for years....I think I was told it was unrelated and was probably just a weird wart cluster, but I never really bought that for some reason....it was unlike any warts Ive had before...but like I said, that part was probably unrelated anyhow, and it went away recently, and hasn't came back. So that's all I know...I hope someone can help me.....PS Ive got no other conditions that would account for it...no Diabetes, or anything like that...I do have other conditions, But nothing that could account for it....

Your doctor should refer you to a dermatologist for more tests. You shouldn’t have to rub your self raw to get rid of it, for all you know it could be the reason it seams to be getting worse. While your waiting for your appointment use something like E45 cream, leave it to soak in and gently wash you hands. Please don’t scrub them anymore.
