Recommendations For Small Schools With Strong Acceptance Rates Into Med School And/or Nursing Programs?

I am not sure if I want to go into nursing or become an MD, but I don’t want to go to a huge school. I’ve visited large schools and the small schools I love (Haverford, Bucknell, Muhlenberg) don’t have a nursing program. By the way an MD is my first choice, and I realize that the large schools have nursing. If not what other med careers can I persue at a small school other than MD?

I came across this article. Do you feel that this could be a case of racism in the health care industry? Can you relate to this? Let me know how you feel about this unethical issue.
“[Racism remains a] prime cause of the unequal and racially discriminatory provision of funds for health services; of the over-crowding of the ill- equipped black hospitals and the underutilization of white hospitals; of miserable housing, gross pollution, poor sanitation, and lack of health care . . . . [Racism] in consequence, is the underlying structure causing the dreadful burden of excess morbidity and mortality, much of it preventable, that is borne by the black population. These health-specific effects are superimposed on the more general consequences of [racism] which bars the majority of [African-american] citizens from participating in decisions on the allocation of resources for health or other needs. We believe that the . . . [American] health care system is, in consequence, fundamentally flawed. Fragmentation and duplication of services . . . . is costly and inefficient. . . . For the majority of the black population, the whole spectrum of health services (but most urgently, primary care) is inadequate. Entire generations suffer through much of their life-times. . . . Clearly, . . . [America] has the ability to reduce markedly, if not eliminate, the serious health problems that exist among the black population. It can, if it chooses, eliminate the institutionalized system of racism and discrimination that have made the country, for decades, a symbol of human rights violations. The task facing. . . This quote is taken from an article about South Africa with merely name changes from South Africa to the U.S. and Apartheid to Racism, it is equally true about the United States of America.

Does The Entire Health Care Reform Debate Strike Anyone Else As Being Largely Irrelevant And Beside The Point?

1. The for profit health care industry has poured billions of our dollars into the pockets of every D.C. politician (all parties) for decades for the sole purpose of protecting it’s interests. Does anyone out there think for one minute that anyone working in the federal government would or could stick it to the rich and help the poor? Why would they?
2. If by some miracle real health care reform, say for instance Medicare for everyone, could be achieved how much good could that do without equally sweeping food industry reform. The U.S. food industry produces food-like substances that are ever higher in fat, sugar, salt, carcinogens, steroids, hormones, manipulated genes and that’s just what we know about. The only things that aren’t in our food anymore are nutrients. How much good would it do for us to fix our health care system if our food industry continues to poison us?
3. Say we wave our magic wand again and provide full access to quality health care and the best, most nutritious food, not only for everyone in the U.S. but everyone in the world. How long will our new paradise last if every individual on the planet continues to think of human reproduction, resource consumption and lifespan as inalienable, individual rights? As long as people continue to live and act as though the Earth’s capacity and resources are infinite, we’re all screwed. What good would it do for us to fix health care and the food industry if it only leads to our entire species choking on it’s own overpopulation?
Aren’t we getting it all backwards?
Shouldn’t we start by breaking it to everyone on the planet that, before we can hope to have a cleaner, happier world, we’ll have to find a way to send the global, human population into a sustained decline?

I did my bachelors in finance. Then i did a graduate certificate in health care informatics. Now i am pursuing my masters in health care law. I still work at a doctors office and would like some guidance in how to utilize my education to get out of my stagnant desk job. Would really appreciate as much help as possible such as areas to look for a different job.,states where health care jobs are better ,median salary after certain amount of time and so on.
