I am a freshmen at Boston University and am planning to stay here for 4 years while taking pre-reqs in order to apply for nursing school.
After that, what exactly are the steps to become a NP and how much school do I have to go through from here on.

I am a senior in highschool. I plan on graduating, although I am behind in credits. If i do not finish in time, i planned to get my GED so I can start my nurses classes at a community college instead of waiting another year. Are there any disadvantages in nursing school if I got my GED instead of my highschool diploma? Is getting a highschool diploma very important when it comes to getting nursing jobs in the future? Im thinking about going to nursing school, but you have to have your schedule open from 8-.5. (Granted that you make it in the actual program). I wouldn't even want to have a job with a demanding schedule like this. I have a young child (22mo), how can I support the both of us during nursing school? Im going for my AA. I live with my mom and 7 other relatives. If I get into this program, I would need ZERO distractions, but I still need money.

How do they weed you out in nursing school and why would they? My theory is that nursing professors weed their students out because they want to know who really takes nursing seriously. I myself don't know why nursing professors weed their students out. Thank you.

I have been going to school for nursing for 3 semesters and was going to apply to the school this next semester. Right before I was going to apply they changed their prerequisites and now require different yet similar courses. This would require me to go to school for another year before I can apply again, same with anyone else who was planning on applying with me. What am I missing, that doesn't make sense, is there a way around that if I talk to the advisers? Any advice?

I need some advice on what i should do. I recently spoke with my college advisor about my future. I told her i wanted to get into the schools nursing program. She told me my g.p.a wasnt good enough to get in. I told her that i would do whatever it takes but all she said was its too late and i have no chance. I am 18 and a senior in high school. I have a semi-low gpa. It is like 2.75. I never really put too much effort in school. I am actually pretty smart but I slacked off alot my freshman and sophomore years. I have been accepted to a community college a far away from home that I am planning on going to. I wasn't sure for a while what I wanted to major in. Now I have decided on nuring. I really want to be an RN. Or maybe even a doctor. Is that too big of a dream though? And my mom is pushing me to majoring in computer programming. But thats not where my heart is. I have taken a few nursing classes at school last semester and loved it. I want to make a difference in the world. But it being an RN or even a doctor too big of a dream?? And please be honest. Thank you.

i told my dad i wanted to be a nurse

he said

that was a bad idea
and that the only people who are nurses are people
who have bad grades failed school

he said that i need to aim higher

he has a doctorate in economy
and all my life hes been studing

and i dont want my whole life to be in school

thats why i want to have a bsn in nursing

I am going to A community college for two years to complete my general courses . Do I apply to nursing school after those two years? And if I want to be a nurse practitioner do I have to stop and take some time and work as an RN after the four years?
