How Could I Replace My Income While In Nursing School?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I've completed my pre-requisites (part time) and have been accepted into the 2 year RN program beginning this August. I'm a married mom of 3 school aged kids and have been working 2 part time jobs. I won't be able to work while going to school, but we can't loose the income and stay afloat. I can't be the only person in this position....I'm not sure where to turn...any advice out there?

Why Does The Hospital Staff Ask You ” What Is Your Religion ? ” While You’re In Labor?

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

They did not ask me while I was in labor but it was part of my pre-admission paperwork after we selected a hospital.
From my perspective it is in the event that you want a priest, rabbi, monk or someone else to come and speak with you, offer a blessing or support you in some sort of worst case scenario. After religion, I was asked if I would like to have someone meet with me during my stay.
ETA - the hospital we went to was not a religiously affiliated hospital. I also wanted to add that my daughter is a cardiac patient at a non-denominational children's hospital and they always ask us the same questions when she is admitted - religion and if we would like to have someone visit us.

Need A Loan To Help Pay For Rent While In Nursing School?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

I'm a nursing student and I have a part time job, the stafford loan is paying for my tuition this year but in the spring I will began clinicals and I will probaly have to quit my job in order to devote all my time to school. I have researched almost all of the lenders that offer private loans and the cost of attendance amount for my school was 12000 a yr. With the amount left over from my tuition It isn't nearly enough for me to pay for my living expenses rent, transportation. What other type of loan can I get to help pay for rent and transportation only? I know it will be hard trying to pay off the loans after I graduate but my main concern now is staying in school and having a place to live.

Can I Be A Paramedic While Attending Nursing School?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Is it possible to be a paramedic while studying to be a nurse at the same time? Or will there be schedule conflicts? As I understand it, paramedics often work around ten days of 24-hour shifts per month (is this true?), so that should leave enough time for school. Ultimately I want to become a nurse but I just thought that the job would be exciting, the experience will help, and hopefully it will put me through school.

Is It Ethical For The Health Care Industry To Spend $1.4 Mil/day On Lobbyists, While Raising Your Premiums?

Monday, August 24th, 2009

If nothing else is done with health care by the govt., should this industry be regulated to take this extra money and give it back to the consumers in the form of lower premiums, deductables, and better service?
Any industry that can afford to throw around $511 million dollars a year at lobbyists in DC during a recession has too much "extra money" and that money should be going back to consumers.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con…
